Hi, I’m Tom Yarwood, a Graphic Designer currently in my final year at the University of Chester.
I love design, whether its functional, usable, typographic, product design, graphics, photography or advertising. Anything creative, anything that pushes boundaries, inspires, helps or makes people think differently.
This Blog is following me through my final stage of University so I document anything that inspires and influences my design work, any current projects I am working on and anything that interests me from the design industry and design blogs.
As I am working on the final designs for my Bacardi competition brief, I came across these posters. I love the rustic, vintage feel that has a strong masculine style. This is a similar style I am looking at using. I want the heritage and age of Bacardi to be a significant factor to my designs.
We finally decided as our group to develop a web/software design, development and management company that specialises in Apps.
After looking at possible names, I chose Apps, Hugs, Rock and Roll. It has a fun, young and energetic feel, which helps as we are looking to aim our products at a younger audience.
To go with the name, Apps, Hugs Rock and Roll, we needed an identity that resembled these morals. The identity above was created. By combining the hand ‘Rock’ symbol with the phone again, instantly is an eye catching and fun identity.
Awesome design with great way bridging the gap between traditional and digital media, giving people the opportunity to interact with the illustrated book using an iPhone. This has proved to be a good source inspiration for my YCN Bacardi brief.
A creative advertising campaign created by Ogilvy & Marther Brazil. This beautiful campaign was created to highlight how women perceive themselves and others, with the use of professional forensic artist Gil Zamora.
